Recap IUFost 2014

The international Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST), a country-membership organization is the global voice of food science and technology. It is a voluntary, non-profit federation of national food science organizations linking the world’s food scientists and technologists. IUFoST promotes the advancement of global food science and technology through its education programs, workshops, regional symposia and through IAFoST the International Academy of Food Science and Technology. IUFoST aims to strengthen food science and technology’s role in helping secure the world’s food supply and eliminate world hunger by delivering programs such as distance education, workshops, and integrated food systems targeted to these needs.

This year, Agropur Ingredients sponsored a team for the CIFST Student Challenge at IUFoST. The Student Challenge brings together food science students from across Canada to compete against each other in a test of their food science knowledge. The Jeopardy-style format challenged students’ understanding in many fields of the food industry. Each team consists of four students, one school advisor and one industry sponsor. Jill Rippe, the Director of R&D at Agropur Ingredients, was the industry sponsor for our team. Our team did a great job answering questions and working together. Congrats everyone!
